Pedalling for Kids’ Cancer Research

2015 Pedal for Hope
Pedals to the Metal for the Kids

Every spring since 2005, the RCMP, OPP, and Peterborough Police Service join forces to put the pedal to the metal. For a good cause.

The police and our own former NHLer John Druce ride nearly 1,000 kilometers through all kinds of cold, wet early spring weather to visit over 50 local schools (three or four a day) over three weeks.

Uniting the Community for Paediatric Cancer Research

Pedal for Hope is the ultimate community event. On the last day of the event, as the riders approach the final kilometer, they are greeted by kids on bikes–kids who are cancer survivors themselves and those undergoing treatment–for a heartwarming dash to the finish line–together.

Canadian Tire donated the bikes for the kids to ride the last kilometer with the riders.

Unique Media Solutions a Gold Sponsor

This year, over 50 mini iPads were donated as prizes for the kids who raised the most funds from each school. Unique Media Solutions wrapped them all in bright 3M wraps for the kids. Unique Media Solutions is proud to be a founding partner and Gold Sponsor of Pedal for Hope.

Pedal for Hope and Cops for Cancer

At each school the riders provide an entertaining presentation to boost cancer awareness and then get into all kinds of fun activities like skits, an ice-cream-eating contest, and a trike racing contest.

Nearly $2 Million Raised for Paediatric Cancer Research

Over the past ten years Pedal for Hope has raised thousands of dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society and funded two paediatric cancer research Impact Grants for the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto, the most recent worth $1.25 million.

All told, the event has raised nearly $2 million for cancer research.
